MABINE SEABE
Co-founder & Director

Mabine Seabe (30) is a professional Communicator with a demonstrated history of working in the political organisation industry. Skilled in Non-profit Organizations, Crisis Communications, Speech Writing, Social Media, Event and Campaign Management, and Media Relations.

He began his career as an intern for highly acclaimed news platform Daily Maverick, thereafter, spent several years as a social commentator appearing on eNCA, BBC, and the SABC. An accomplished writer and thought-leader, Mabine used his communication skills as a freelance columnist published primarily by EWN and City Press. It was during this time that he co-founded a think tank, which provided various platforms for young people and decision-makers to exchange ideas, develop strategies and execute plans that will enhance the lives of young South Africans.

Mabine also formed part of a body that advised the Johannesburg United States Consulate General to ensure the US foreign policy correctly addresses issues facing South Africans, especially the youth.

In 2013, Mabine began work in the Communications Department for South Africa’s Official Opposition Party and through his passion for communication and its role in shaping opinion and narratives worked his way through the ranks to eventually act as the Party’s Executive Director of Communication.

In 2017 Mabine was recognised as one of the Mail & Guardian’s 200 Top Young South Africans and Avance Media's 100 Most Influential South Africans.

Mabine is a skilled activist and advisor and has a deep passion for South Africa and Africa’s success through harnessing the skills and expertise of young people, working in collaboration with government and the private sector.   

Jessica Shelver


JESSICA SHELVER
Co-founder & Director

Jessica Shelver is an international political studies and communications professional with almost a decade’s worth of experience in crisis communications, reputation management, government relations, media relations, as well as general brand, corporate reputation and image management.

Jess spent a number of years working in the UK, for a Non-Government Organisation Research Centre and Think Tank and served as the Parliamentary Liaison for the United Nations Association – Westminster Young Professionals.

Jess is a skilled speech writer and researcher, and returned to South Africa in 2013 and served as a Strategic Media and Communications Advisor and Official Spokesperson to the Western Cape MEC for Education for 5 and half years.

An inspired thinker-doer with a reputation for delivering excellence and honest, breakthrough communications, Shelver says “I love my country and am passionate about contributing to a positive future for all South Africans. I believe that effective and meaningful communication can inspire others to take action in bringing widespread attention to the challenges affecting our country.

In 2012, Jessica won the South African Chamber of Commerce Rising Star of the Year Award. In 2013, she was named one of the top 13 African Economic Leaders to watch and in 2014, she was named one of Mail and Guardians top 200 South Africans for her contribution to governance and social upliftment projects.  


Alistair Shaw

ALISTAIR SHAW
Head: Legal and Research Unit

Alistair is an admitted attorney, who has experience in the corporate law environment, in a political organization as well as extensive experience in both provincial and local governments.

He began his career at a boutique law firm in Sandton. Alistair spent two years in the general litigation department and then another two years in the corporate commercial department.

He thereafter joined South Africa's official opposition as the Manager: Legislation Unit in Parliament, following which he was appointed as a State Law Advisor at the Western Cape Government, specializing in the drafting of legislation and subordinate legislation as well as the formulation and review of public policy.

Alistair recently served as the deputy legal advisor and acting principal legal advisor to the Executive Mayor of the City of Johannesburg, Councillor Herman Mashaba.

Alistair has extensive experience in both commercial law as well as government regulatory law, moreover, he has experience in political communication as well as public policy.


Colin Wardle

COLIN WARDLE
Head: Account Management Unit

Colin Wardle is a media and communication professional with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Political Communication from the University of Cape Town. Colin has a demonstrated history in politics, international trade and development industry, and property development. During that time he has developed skills in media relations, campaigns, crisis communications, and eventing.
